❥ Amethyst — The Natural Tranquilliser Stone
In crystal tradition, amethyst is associated with calm and tranquillity, with soothing irritability and steadying mood, and with easing feelings of anger, fear, sadness and grief. It is also linked with spiritual awareness, intuition and psychic ability.
Amethyst is quite common and is found on all continents, with the larger deposits currently mined in South America, Africa and North America. The largest global producer is Brazil, with an annual production of around two to three thousand tons, followed by Zambia at about a thousand tons per year.
Amethyst is traditionally regarded as a stone of spiritual protection and purification, said to cleanse one’s energy field of negative influences and create a resonant shield of light around the body.
